In 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network reported that approximately 1 in 68 children in the United States has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The number of children and youth ages 3–21 receiving special education services was 6.4 million, or about 15 percent of all public school students, in 2012–13.
